GAiN does this through three key initiatives; providing clean water through the Water for Life Initiative (WFLI), caring for the needs of the most vulnerable in the area of Women and Children and responding to immediate and ongoing needs after a crisis through Relief and Development.

Position Overview:
The Water for Life Initiative (WFLI) is one of three key ministry focus areas for GAiN. The WFLI combines the provision of deep-capped water wells, sanitation and hygiene programs, church engagement and a robust monitoring and evaluation program to reveal hope and restore lives to residents of communities in sub-saharan Africa.
The role of the Drilling and Technology Intern is to support our field partners in drilling operations and procurement. The Drilling and Technology Intern assists in developing field expertise on the efficient use of drilling equipment, while ensuring that drilling records are up-to-date and reviewed periodically.
Primary Outcomes
This role will be held accountable to achieve the following outcomes:
Data and analysis of the WFLI Drilling Operations is completed regularly (50%)
Monitor equipment down time and assess equipment issues through communication with field teams. Coordinate implementation of operational plans with drill teams.
Quality-check and report drilling data and well statistics.
Analyze field operations data and identify improvement opportunities.
Materials and supplies to the field arrive in a timely fashion to keep projects working smoothly (30%)
Forecast use of (and purchase) supplies and equipment required by the WFLI teams in the field, which includes spare parts, reusable supplies and equipment such as vehicles.
Identify alternate suppliers for common drilling consumables.
Manage and update the equipment database to ensure that purchased parts, major repairs, and new equipment are entered into the system in an accurate and timely manner.
Monitor inventory levels of pumps, pipes and other supplies to ensure timely purchase and delivery to the field from local and International suppliers
Research, recommend and implement new equipment, systems and tools to safely and effectively improve the drilling process of the WFLI (10%)
Develop local expertise through organizing training for drill teams.
Identify and recommend alternative drilling processes and technologies that could bring new efficiencies to the drilling operations.
Update technical manuals with guidelines for drilling procedures, well development and material selection for well base and pump installation.
Develop and roll-out safety policies that ensure the well-being of field staff
Field visits are conducted as needed, to ensure effective implementation of the program. (10%)
Education & Experience:
Background or education in Equipment Maintenance, Engineering and/or data analysis
Previous experience in working with drilling equipment or other heavy equipment is considered an asset
Experience in a Relief and Development Ministry or other related ministry/industry experience in an international development setting is preferable

Technical skills/aptitude would be considered an asset
Able to travel internationally (hold or can obtain a valid passport)
The successful applicant will be required to complete a criminal record check and vulnerable sector search

Funding
This position requires Ministry Partner Development. The successful candidate will have the privilege to build a partnership team which provides financial and prayer support for the ministry. The financial support will cover the costs of the candidate’s salary and ministry expenses. Power to Change believes that Ministry Partner Development is biblical and God will provide everything necessary to fulfill the calling into ministry: finances, emotional strength and perseverance.
