We are Volodymyr and Lena Losev and our kids Valeria, Daniel and our youngest daughter Lydia. We’ve been on staff with Cru in Ukraine for 30 years. In 1995 we joined Cru staff, and we began our ministry with the team working at Kiev State University and worked there for three years. In August of 1998 we moved to Lviv (cultural capital of Ukraine) to launch a campus ministry. During the time of our involvement with campus ministry, as we shared the Gospel with students, lead Bible studying groups with them, we learned that many of them were raised up without a father or did not see a good example in their parents relationships and for this reason they had very little understanding of what marriage is about. This fact impelled us to think about involving full time with FamilyLife ministry (a branch of Cru ministry), which started in Ukraine in the year 2002. In the year 2003 we joined FamilyLife ministry in Ukraine. Over the years of our participation with FamilyLife ministry lots of things were done and achieved: a big number of FamilyLife Conferences (including those in Kalmykia (Region of Russia) and Belarus) through which thousands of people had the opportunity to hear the Gospel and God’s principles on building marriage and raising kids. HomeBuilders Series for couples and Preparing For Marriage course were culturally adapted and translated. Web site was launched. And, of course, many HomeBuilders groups, a key to build a spiritual movement among families, were started. It is inspiring to realize that we have been involved in such a large project, a movement that God has been using to change us and the people around us. In 2016 we joined CrossRoads ministry. After several FamilyLife Conferences for teachers and especially leading a small HomeBuilders group for teachers we got deeper understanding of this audience and their problems. We believe that God has been preparing and leading us to be involved with CrossRoads ministry. CrossRoads introduces educators (at The Teacher Training Conference) to the CrossRoads philosophy and the Life at the CrossRoads Curriculum. This Curriculum is officially recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for teaching in high schools. The curriculum teaches values, morality, ethics, decision making and presents information about the prevention of HIV/AIDS and other STD’s. Students are exposed to the ‘pillars of character’ and to Jesus of Nazareth as the model of character. CrossRoads ministry provides a great opportunity to influence very strategic audience. Teachers are those who have an influence on younger generation. From June of 2019 Volodymyr joined Operations Team and ministers at Financial Department of Cru in Ukraine managing finances of more than 100 National Staff helping them to be fully focused on their field ministry activities. Also, Volodymyr serves as Country Tech person, providing a technical support for staff accounts, helping them to have an access to an important ministry-related information. Lena continues ministering to educators.
