Ministry Overview

Power to Change is a family of 11 ministries, all pursuing a common mission: to help people know Jesus and experience his power to change the world. A catalytic staff member is expected to serve students toward this goal. In accordance with our mission statement to spread the gospel, everyone who applies to be involved will be required to sign and adhere to the Statement of Faith and Code of Conduct.

Position Overview

Catalytic staff, serving with Power to Change – Students, can expect to work at one or multiple university or college campuses as a member of the catalytic team, under the strategy directors to accomplish our purpose of helping every student take their next steps towards Jesus. Though day-to-day activities may vary, catalytic staff coach student leaders and engage in evangelism, discipleship and teaching on campus. Staff may be connected with campuses locally or at a distance as we expand our reach to new communities. Catalytic staff will have the opportunity to receive and participate in ministry skill development, training, leadership, strategy deployment, resource development, conferences, campus outreach, and other missional activities critical to helping students discover Jesus and become life-long labourers for Christ.

Responsibilities
1.  Live out our kingdom objectives with your team (face to face ministry) - 55%
  • Cultivate a healthy team environment among student leaders characterized by high trust, effective communication, and good collaboration, connecting with student leaders regularly to provide ministry direction, development and shepherding

  • Create opportunities for students to be on mission with God, actively sharing your faith with others

  • Mobilize students to be growing in Christ-like character, empowering students to lead others spiritually

  • While often working at a distance we recognize the importance of spending time on campus in order to understand campus culture, cultivate a heart for those who don’t know Jesus, and to evaluate the effectiveness of ministry tools and practices through regular campus visits as resources allow

2.  Plan and prepare for effective ministry - 25%
  • Participate in weekly team meetings, working together with supervisor to determine the focus of your ministry

  • Understand and complete any administrative tasks related to your position in a timely and professional manner (emails, reimbursements, HR forms, registrations, submitting measurements, etc.), potentially managing budgets for ministries you support 

  • Engage in strategic planning processes and contribute to collective ministry goals

  • Participate in Standard Staff Training, completing training assignments as prescribed by your trainer on time and with excellence

  • Planning for discipleship, teaching, or leadership engagements with students

3. Line up resources - 10%
  • Build the necessary habits to cultivate solid funding for your life and ministry needs

  • Communicate monthly with ministry partners 

  • Contribute to vision casting and recruitment of volunteers or those who may also join staff

4. Participate in National Priorities - 10%
  • Actively participate in the preparation and execution of national and regional events such as Summit or other retreats, fundraising events, Summer Mission Trips, and days of prayer

  • A deep, growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ

  • A passion and commitment to communicate the gospel

  • Demonstrates a growing personal maturity: takes responsibility, faithful, adaptable, teachable, self-motivated

  • Demonstrates growing emotional maturity: an accurate self-perception, appropriately open and transparent, handles stress and pressure, manages emotions

  • Demonstrates curiosity and a desire to learn; demonstrates a growing knowledge of the Bible

  • Demonstrates problem-solving skills and creativity

  • Initiates and cultivates relationships, works well on a team but also able to work independently

  • Able to communicate a call to ministry and develop a team of ministry partners

Education & Experience:
  • Graduation from a post-secondary institution

  • Relatable ministry experience

Funding:

Ministry Partner Development (MPD) is the process of building a partnership team which provides financial and prayer support for your personal ministry. The financial support will cover the costs of the candidate’s salary and ministry expenses. Power to Change believes that Ministry Partner Development is biblical, a privilege and an integral part of being in ministry. Power to Change is committed to providing training and coaching that ensures success in Ministry Partner Development.
